Capitol Movement Presents: DC Artist Exchange

By Stephanie Jojokian, Executive Director

Artists sharing the stage, sharing our passion, and meeting new audiences - that is the premise behind the DC Artist Exchange Show being produced by CMI. We often stay in our smaller circles of art, with audiences that know and feel comfortable with us.  But it is important to share our talents, vulnerabilities, and excitement with others outside of that community or circle. There is much to learn from one another.

Additionally, CMI also wants to expose our younger generation of dancers in the Teen Apprentice and CMI Kidz to other art forms that may inspire them further.  Last year, our Teen Apprentices and several CMI Kidz learned about lighting from the Production Manager at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center.  It was an awesome opportunity for them to learn about the technical side of lighting as well as how it can enhance the story or meaning of the art form on stage.

Below is the announcement of the Artists selected to perform in this year’s Artist Exchange Show at Atlas Performing Arts Center. Come hear spoken word, singing, musicians and see Flamenco, Tap, Contemporary and Hip Hop dance.  It will be an evening of fantastic entertainment and raw talent. Come share this unique experience, meet the artists and support the entire Arts Community.
