Free Day of Dance

Every year CMI opens the doors of its final Capitol Movement Project dress rehearsal to Horizon dance camp participants, students from the DCPS Out of School Time program, and children who participate in DC Parks and Recreation for a free "Day of Dance". This annual show is a full-length performance at a DC theater, featuring the choreography of well-known artists from across the country. For many of the attendees, the "Day of Dance" marks their first trip to a theater, often it's their first time seeing a live dance performance. This unique experience gives students the opportunity to perform for or see their peers showcase choreography learned during one of our programs. We are proud to say that the 2009 "Day of Dance" marked the first year that outreach students were able to perform on stage for an audience of their peers.
