Taylor Hawkins

Director, CMI Kidz


Taylor Hawkins is an Engineering Project Manager from Washington, DC, and a proud alumna of Spelman College & North Carolina A&T State University. Through her experience performing locally & exploration of dance at a collegiate level, Taylor has had the honor of participating in many, diverse performing events and sharing her passion for the arts with the greater metropolitan community. Upon discovering her love of dance here in her hometown of DC, she joined the NBA Washington Wizards Junior Wizards Dance Team, where her spirit for dance was mentored and nurtured by Stephanie Jojokian and Vihky Smith. Taylor was then afforded the pleasure of joining the NFL Washington Redskins Junior All-Star Dance Team as a member of the founding squad, the nationally ranked UDA National Dance Championship team in both hip-hop & jaza, and the 2005 Battle at the Capitol-All Star Cheer and Dance National Championship team. 

At Spelman College, Taylor remained committed to her love for the arts and cultural expression as a member of the Morehouse College House of Funk Marching band by joining the Mahogany-N-Motion Dance Team and competing each year at Honda’s National Battle of the Bands. She continued to study and perform throughout Atlanta’s rich arts community as a dancer in featured Speakeasy performances at The Woodruff Arts Center, directed by Stephen Greene & Jasmine Guy. Additionally, Taylor has performed in many dance performances in the Atlanta University Center including: Spelman College Dance Theatre under the tutelage of T Lang, Kathleen Wessel & Cici Kelley, Morehouse College’s Annual A Night In Harlem Event, Welcome to ‘the House’, and other various events.

Taylor was welcomed into the Capitol Movement family in 2006 and continued to perform with the Pre-Professional & Adult companies prior to college. During her tenure with CMI, she has had the extraordinary opportunity to train and perform with a host of revered creatives in the dance space, as well as take part in countless charitable performances throughout the DMV. She continues to give back to her community as a Capitol Movement Adult Company Member and Kidz Company Director, as well as advocate for legislative community justice issues as a Co-Founder of The Just Us Initiative.
